About the event

Increasingly, the lines once drawn between people, and the technologically enabled systems they use, are blurring. It is a phenomenon the Strategic Management Institute refers to as 'socionology'. As an example, Tick Tock and Facebook are popular platforms through which influencers, deliberately or otherwise are able to evoke transformational change. The primary focus of this change is societal in nature as new ideas, published on evolving technological platforms, provoke the uptake of new behaviours and attitudes, both good and bad. At the same time however, Tik Tock and Facebook would be unable to survive, if they did not have influencers, or even non influencers happily publishing content on their platforms.

From a corporate strategy perspective, practitioners must understand and anticipate the dynamics of continual change and the dynamics of emerging technology. Its existence has already demanded new leadership styles, ones which embrace different approaches to communication and collaboration. Web 3.0, or Meta provide insight into what could become a reality in the future.

Since the publication of the book; 'The Corporation of the Future' as recently as this year, it has become apparent that the reliance of one aspect of socionology on the other has increased substantially. This is in large part a result of the increase in the availability and use of Artificial Intelligence. In the context of a management tool, its uptake in areas where decision making has never been automated is now quite apparent. These areas include organisational learning, strategic analysis, strategic business intelligence and performance reporting.
